Description

This moist and flavorful Applesauce Bread combines the natural sweetness of applesauce with a warm blend of spices for a delightful homemade loaf. Perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack, this easy-to-make bread requires simple ingredients and minimal prep time.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup applesauce
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1½ cups flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cloves

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan to prevent the bread from sticking during baking.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk them together until fully incorporated and smooth.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually stir in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves to the wet mixture. Mix until just combined to avoid overworking the batter.
  4. Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading evenly. Place it in the oven and bake for 45 to 55 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
  5. Cool and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan briefly before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure not to overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
  • Check the bread at 45 minutes to avoid overbaking.
  • Spices can be adjusted according to your taste preference.
  • This bread stores well in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • For a healthier version, consider using whole wheat flour and reducing sugar slightly.
