Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup applesauce
- ½ cup oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
- 1½ cups flour
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp cloves
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan to prevent the bread from sticking during baking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk them together until fully incorporated and smooth.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually stir in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves to the wet mixture. Mix until just combined to avoid overworking the batter.
- Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading evenly. Place it in the oven and bake for 45 to 55 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan briefly before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure not to overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
- Check the bread at 45 minutes to avoid overbaking.
- Spices can be adjusted according to your taste preference.
- This bread stores well in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- For a healthier version, consider using whole wheat flour and reducing sugar slightly.
