Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 °F (175 °C) and grease a 9 × 5‑inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with applesauce, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
- Fold in chopped walnuts, if using.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

- Swap butter with vegetable or coconut oil for a different texture.
