This copycat Arby's Beef & Cheddar sandwich brings the fast-food favorite home with thinly sliced roast beef, creamy cheddar cheese sauce, and tangy homemade Arby's sauce on a soft bun.
Ingredients
- 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef
- 4 soft sandwich buns (e.g., brioche)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Add Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Once thickened, stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
- In a small bowl, mix ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of salt to make the Arby’s sauce.
- Warm the roast beef in a skillet or microwave until heated through.
- Toast the sandwich buns lightly.
- Assemble sandwiches by placing roast beef on the bottom bun, drizzling with Arby’s sauce, and topping with cheese sauce. Add the top bun.
- Serve hot, optionally sliced in half.
Notes
- Use lean roast beef for best tenderness.
- Adjust the tanginess of the sauce to taste.
- The cheese sauce can be made ahead and reheated gently.
- Customize the sandwich with different cheeses or add heat with jalapeños.
