Description

This copycat Arby's Beef & Cheddar sandwich brings the fast-food favorite home with thinly sliced roast beef, creamy cheddar cheese sauce, and tangy homemade Arby's sauce on a soft bun.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef
  • 4 soft sandwich buns (e.g., brioche)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Add Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Once thickened, stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
  4. In a small bowl, mix ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of salt to make the Arby’s sauce.
  5. Warm the roast beef in a skillet or microwave until heated through.
  6. Toast the sandwich buns lightly.
  7. Assemble sandwiches by placing roast beef on the bottom bun, drizzling with Arby’s sauce, and topping with cheese sauce. Add the top bun.
  8. Serve hot, optionally sliced in half.

Notes

  • Use lean roast beef for best tenderness.
  • Adjust the tanginess of the sauce to taste.
  • The cheese sauce can be made ahead and reheated gently.
  • Customize the sandwich with different cheeses or add heat with jalapeños.
