Ingredients
- 4 (16 oz) cans baked beans
- 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1⅓ cups barbecue sauce
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a 9×13‑inch baking dish, mix together the baked beans, diced apples, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and raisins if using.
- Bake uncovered for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally to help the flavors meld and the sauce thicken.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for the best flavor balance.
- Substitute raisins with dried cranberries or chopped dates for variation.
- Add smoked paprika or chili powder for a spicier kick.
- Maple syrup or coconut sugar can be used instead of brown sugar.
- Reheats well and can be made a day ahead.
