Description
Banana Bread Cinnamon Rolls combine the moist, rich flavor of banana bread with the gooey, spiced swirls of traditional cinnamon rolls, topped with a luscious glaze for the perfect brunch or dessert treat.
Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ¾ cup whole milk, warmed
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (plus more for filling)
- 1 large egg
- 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
- 2 oz cream cheese, softened (optional, for glaze)
Instructions
- Warm the milk and dissolve the yeast in it until foamy, about 5–10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mash bananas and mix with granulated sugar, melted butter, and egg.
- Add the yeast mixture to the banana mixture, then stir in flour and salt until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle and spread with softened butter.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over buttered dough.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 even rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Whisk powdered sugar with milk and vanilla (add cream cheese if using) to make the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over slightly cooled rolls before serving.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for best flavor and moisture.
- You can prepare the rolls the night before and bake in the morning.
- Add nuts or chocolate chips for variation.
- Reheat in the microwave or oven for a warm, gooey texture.
- Freeze baked rolls for longer storage.
