Description

Beef Onion Stir Fry is a quick and flavorful dish featuring tender beef slices and sweet onions in a savory sauce, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp oil for cooking (vegetable or sesame)
  • 23 tbsp water or beef broth (optional, for sauce consistency)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain and marinate it with cornstarch, soy sauce, and black pepper. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the beef until browned, then remove and set aside.
  4. Add another tbsp of oil to the same pan and sauté the onions until soft and slightly golden.
  5. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Return the beef to the pan. Add oyster sauce, sugar, and a splash of water or broth. Stir to combine.
  7. Stir-fry for another 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and onions evenly.
  8. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For extra veggies, add bell peppers or snap peas.
  • Add chili flakes or fresh chili for heat.
  • Use lettuce wraps or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
  • Swap beef for chicken or tofu if preferred.
  • Reheat with a splash of water in a skillet or microwave.
