Description
Beef Onion Stir Fry is a quick and flavorful dish featuring tender beef slices and sweet onions in a savory sauce, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 medium yellow onions, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp oil for cooking (vegetable or sesame)
- 2–3 tbsp water or beef broth (optional, for sauce consistency)
Instructions
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain and marinate it with cornstarch, soy sauce, and black pepper. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Sear the beef until browned, then remove and set aside.
- Add another tbsp of oil to the same pan and sauté the onions until soft and slightly golden.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return the beef to the pan. Add oyster sauce, sugar, and a splash of water or broth. Stir to combine.
- Stir-fry for another 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and onions evenly.
- Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
- For extra veggies, add bell peppers or snap peas.
- Add chili flakes or fresh chili for heat.
- Use lettuce wraps or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
- Swap beef for chicken or tofu if preferred.
- Reheat with a splash of water in a skillet or microwave.
