Description

This Better Than Anything Toffee is a rich, buttery treat topped with crunchy pecans and smooth milk chocolate—perfect for gifts or indulgent snacking.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9-inch square baking dish with cooking spray and line with parchment paper.
  2. Spread chopped pecans in a single layer over the parchment.
  3. In a heavy-bottomed 3-quart saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and salt.
  4. Bring to a boil over medium-low heat, stirring frequently until sugar dissolves.
  5. Continue boiling and stirring occasionally until the mixture reaches 290°F to 300°F (hard crack stage).
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the pecans in the baking dish.
  8. Let it sit undisturbed for a few minutes, then sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  9. Cover with foil and let sit for 5 minutes to soften chocolate.
  10. Remove foil and spread melted chocolate evenly.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully set.
  12. Lift parchment out, place toffee on a cutting board, and break into pieces with a knife.
  13. Store in an airtight container in a cool place.

Notes

  • Substitute pecans with almonds or walnuts for variation.
  • Try dark or semisweet chocolate chips for a different taste.
  • Sprinkle sea salt on chocolate before it sets for enhanced flavor.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accuracy, or test toffee in cold water.
  • Refrigerate in warm climates to prevent melting.
