Ingredients
- 2 slices sourdough or artisan bread
- 2–3 oz brie cheese, sliced (rind on or off)
- 1–2 tablespoons blackberry preserves or jam
- ½ teaspoon balsamic glaze or a few drops of balsamic vinegar
- Butter (for spreading on bread)
- Optional additions:
- A few fresh blackberries
- Arugula
- Fresh thyme or cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread blackberry preserves.
- Layer with brie, fresh blackberries (if using), and drizzle with balsamic glaze.
- Add arugula or herbs if desired.
- Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side out.
- Grill in a skillet over medium heat for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and melty.
- Let rest briefly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For extra crispness, press the sandwich slightly with a spatula while grilling.
- Brie can be left with the rind for texture or trimmed for a smoother melt.
- If you like it extra tangy, add a bit more balsamic glaze after grilling.
- Great with tomato soup or a fresh green salad on the side!
