Description

Blackberry Balsamic and Brie Grilled Cheese** is a gourmet twist on the classic sandwich, layered with creamy brie, sweet blackberry preserves, and a tangy balsamic drizzle. This quick and flavorful recipe is perfect for lunch, brunch, or a cozy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices sourdough or artisan bread
  • 23 oz brie cheese, sliced (rind on or off)
  • 12 tablespoons blackberry preserves or jam
  • ½ teaspoon balsamic glaze or a few drops of balsamic vinegar
  • Butter (for spreading on bread)
  • Optional additions:
  • A few fresh blackberries
  • Arugula
  • Fresh thyme or cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  2. On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread blackberry preserves.
  3. Layer with brie, fresh blackberries (if using), and drizzle with balsamic glaze.
  4. Add arugula or herbs if desired.
  5. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side out.
  6. Grill in a skillet over medium heat for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and melty.
  7. Let rest briefly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispness, press the sandwich slightly with a spatula while grilling.
  • Brie can be left with the rind for texture or trimmed for a smoother melt.
  • If you like it extra tangy, add a bit more balsamic glaze after grilling.
  • Great with tomato soup or a fresh green salad on the side!
