Description

Juicy, tender morsels of cajun-spiced steak are seared to perfection and drenched in a luscious garlic butter sauce, ready in just 30 minutes. Great as a cozy dinner or a shareable appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (or less, to taste)
  • ½ tsp packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp dried thyme
  • 1 ½ lbs steak (strip, sirloin, ribeye, etc.)
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, finely minced or grated
  • Fresh parsley, minced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice the steak into roughly 2-inch pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk the cajun seasoning ingredients together in a small bowl and coat the steak bites thoroughly.
  3. Heat 1 Tbsp of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until wisps of smoke appear. Sear half the steak in a single layer for 2 minutes per side, then transfer to a plate. Repeat with remaining oil and steak.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low. Melt butter in the skillet and add minced garlic. Stir for about 30 seconds, scraping up browned bits.
  5. Turn off heat. Return steak bites to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce. Garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use store-bought cajun seasoning for convenience.
  • Adjust garlic amount to taste.
  • Fresh parsley is optional but adds brightness.
  • Increase or decrease cayenne pepper to control spice level.
