Description
Creamy Baked Asiago Chicken is a comforting, flavorful dish featuring juicy chicken breasts baked in a rich garlic cream sauce with nutty Asiago cheese. Perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup freshly grated Asiago cheese, divided
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add chicken broth and heavy cream, then stir in Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and half of the Asiago cheese.
- Simmer the sauce for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return the chicken to the skillet. Spoon sauce over the chicken and sprinkle with remaining Asiago cheese.
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) internally.
- Grate Asiago cheese fresh for best flavor and texture.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, noodles, or roasted vegetables for a full meal.
- Add a splash of cream or broth when reheating to maintain sauce consistency.
