Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms (sliced, fresh or canned)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or homemade substitute)
- 1/2 cup sour cream or heavy cream
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning or dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 3 cups cooked pasta or rice
- 1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend)
- Chopped parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
- Add onion; cook until soft. Stir in garlic and mushrooms; cook until tender.
- Stir in cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
- Mix in the cooked pasta or rice. Pour mixture into the baking dish.
- Sprinkle cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest a few minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
