Description
Crispy Parmesan Asparagus Sticks are a delicious, healthy side or snack made by coating fresh asparagus in a savory Parmesan breadcrumb mixture and baking them to golden perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 bunch fresh asparagus (about 1 lb), trimmed
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Trim the woody ends off the asparagus spears.
- In a shallow bowl, mix Parmesan cheese, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, beat the egg.
- Dip each asparagus spear into the beaten egg, then roll in the breadcrumb mixture to coat evenly.
- Place coated asparagus on the baking sheet, spacing them apart. Drizzle with olive oil if desired.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and tender-crisp.
Notes
- Add cayenne or red pepper flakes for a spicy variation.
- Use dried herbs like thyme or oregano for an aromatic twist.
- Swap Parmesan with Asiago or Pecorino Romano for a different flavor.
- Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in the oven to keep crispiness.
