Crockpot French Onion Meatloaf with Melted Swiss Cheese is a cozy, slow-cooked twist on a classic comfort food. Infused with rich French onion flavor and topped with creamy melted Swiss cheese, this dish is easy to prepare and perfect for a hearty family dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6-8 slices Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, French onion soup mix, bread crumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the center of the crockpot.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours, or until fully cooked and tender.
- About 15 minutes before it’s done, layer Swiss cheese slices over the top of the meatloaf and cover to melt.
- Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, carefully remove the meatloaf, let it rest for a few minutes, slice, and serve.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- You can cook on high for 3 to 4 hours if short on time.
- Swap Swiss cheese with provolone, mozzarella, or cheddar for variety.
- Add caramelized onions on top for extra flavor.
- Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 4 days or freezer for 2 months.
