Description

Elegant Blue Cheese Stuffed Pears are a sophisticated appetizer that combines sweet, tangy, and nutty flavors. The pears are filled with creamy blue cheese and cream cheese, then topped with toasted nuts, honey, and fresh chives.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe pears (Bosc or Anjou work well)
  • ½ cup blue cheese, crumbled
  • ¼ cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling
  • ¼ cup toasted walnuts or pecans, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (to prevent browning)

Instructions

  1. Wash, dry, and halve the pears lengthwise. Use a melon baller or small spoon to scoop out the core and some flesh to make a little well. Brush the cut surfaces with lemon juice to keep them from browning.
  2. In a bowl, mix the crumbled blue cheese, softened cream cheese, and honey until smooth and well combined.
  3. Spoon the cheese mixture into each pear half, dividing it evenly.
  4. Top each stuffed pear with chopped nuts, drizzle with extra honey, and sprinkle with chives if desired. I serve them chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Cheese swaps: I sometimes use goat cheese or ricotta for a milder flavor.
  • Fruit additions: Adding dried cranberries or pomegranate seeds gives a festive touch.
  • Nut choices: Pistachios or almonds offer a different crunch.
  • Herbs: A sprinkle of thyme, rosemary, or sage adds depth.
  • Vegan version: I use plant-based cream cheese and maple syrup instead of honey.
