Description

These fluffy, golden sugar-topped cookies are made with cottage cheese for a soft, tender interior and a crisp, caramelized sugar topping. Easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cottage cheese (preferably full-fat, blended smooth)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for sprinkling)
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Mash or blend the cottage cheese until smooth.
  2. In a large bowl, mix softened butter with the cottage cheese until creamy.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1 cm thickness.
  5. Cut into squares or desired shapes using a cookie cutter or knife.
  6. Dip the tops of the cookies in granulated sugar and press lightly.
  7. Place the cookies sugar-side up on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden and puffed.

  • Mix cinnamon with sugar for a spiced version.
  • Try whole wheat flour for a nuttier taste.
  • Fold in raisins or mini chocolate chips for variation.
