Ingredients
Cereal Mix
- 6 cups Kellogg's Froot Loops cereal
Marshmallow Binding
- 1 (10 oz) bag Kraft Jet-Puffed Mini Marshmallows
- 1/2 cup Land O Lakes Unsalted Butter
Frosting
- 1 tub Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting (approx. 16 oz)
Instructions
- Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large pot over low heat, melt the 1/2 cup of unsalted butter. Once melted, add the entire 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows and stir continuously until both the butter and marshmallows are fully melted and combined into a smooth, sticky mixture.
- Combine with Cereal: Remove the pot from heat and immediately fold in the 6 cups of Kellogg's Froot Loops cereal. Stir gently but thoroughly so that all the cereal pieces are evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture, ensuring the crunchy texture remains intact.
- Press Into Rectangle: Transfer the coated cereal mixture onto a large sheet of wax paper that has been lightly sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Using a spatula or your hands (sprayed with cooking spray), press the mixture firmly and evenly to form a large, thin rectangular sheet.
- Spread Frosting: Open the tub of Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting and spread the entire contents evenly over the flattened cereal rectangle. This will create a sweet and creamy layer that will hold the pinwheel shape when rolled.
- Roll and Set: Starting from one of the longer edges, carefully roll the cereal sheet tightly into a log shape, using the wax paper to help guide and keep it firm. Once rolled, set the log aside at room temperature for 1 hour to firm up and allow the frosting to set.
- Slice and Serve: After the setting time, unwrap the log and slice it into 1-inch thick pinwheels. Arrange on a serving platter and enjoy these colorful, sweet treats.
Notes
- Use non-stick cooking spray on your hands and utensils to prevent sticking while pressing and rolling the mixture.
- Press the cereal mixture firmly to help it hold together well, making rolling easier.
- You can refrigerate the log for 30 minutes before rolling to make handling easier if desired.
- For a variation, try using different flavored frostings or add a sprinkle of rainbow sprinkles over the frosting layer before rolling.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness and texture.
