Description

These Greek Burgers combine ground beef with fresh spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, and crumbled feta cheese for a flavorful Mediterranean twist. Served on toasted buns with fresh spinach, tomato, shallots, and creamy tzatziki sauce, these burgers offer a juicy and vibrant meal perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Burger Patties

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 5 ounces fresh baby spinach leaves, chopped
  • 2 ounces crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt

For Serving

  • Sandwich buns
  • Fresh baby spinach leaves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced shallot
  • Tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Make Burger Patties: In a large bowl, thoroughly combine ground beef, chopped baby spinach, crumbled feta, sun-dried tomatoes, egg, and salt. Once mixed evenly, form the mixture into four equal patties. Place them in the refrigerator for at least one hour to allow the patties to firm up, which helps them hold shape during cooking.
  2. Toast Buns: Preheat a pan over medium heat or prepare a grill. Lightly drizzle cooking oil onto the inside faces of the sandwich buns. Place the buns face down on the hot pan or grill and toast for several minutes until golden and slightly crisp. Remove and transfer the toasted buns to a serving plate.
  3. Cook Burger Patties: Increase the heat to medium-high (or maintain medium heat to reduce smoke) and drizzle some cooking oil onto the pan. Cook the patties in batches, ensuring they don't overcrowd the pan. Fry them until both sides develop a nice char and the internal temperature reaches 160°F, flipping occasionally to cook evenly. Add additional oil as needed to prevent sticking and promote even cooking.
  4. Serve: Assemble the burgers by placing each cooked patty on a toasted bun. Top with fresh baby spinach leaves, sliced tomato, sliced shallots, and a generous spoonful of tzatziki sauce. Serve the burgers hot and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use fresh baby spinach leaves for both the patty mixture and as a fresh topping to enhance flavor and texture.
  • Ensure the internal temperature of the burger reaches 160°F for safe consumption.
  • Sun-dried tomatoes add a burst of savory sweetness, balancing the salty feta cheese.
  • To reduce cooking smoke, consider cooking patties at medium heat, but expect a slightly longer cook time.
  • Tzatziki sauce complements the Greek flavors perfectly, adding a cool, tangy finish.
