Description

This Homemade Honey Butter recipe is a creamy, sweet, and slightly salty spread that enhances toast, muffins, pancakes, and more. Made with softened unsalted butter whipped with honey, confectioners' sugar, and flaky sea salt, it delivers a perfect balance of flavors with a smooth, spreadable texture. Quick to prepare and versatile, this honey butter adds a delightful touch to your breakfast or snacks.

Ingredients

Honey Butter Ingredients

  • 1 cup (16 Tbsp; 226g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1/3 cup (113g) honey
  • 3 Tablespoons (23g) confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/41/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Whip the Butter: In a large bowl, use a handheld mixer or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment to beat the softened butter on medium speed for 1 minute until it's completely smooth and creamy.
  2. Add Sweeteners and Salt: Add the honey, confectioners’ sugar, and start with 1/4 teaspoon of flaky sea salt to the whipped butter. Beat on medium-high speed for about 1 minute until the mixture is fully smooth. Scrape down the bowl sides with a silicone spatula and continue beating to combine evenly.
  3. Adjust Seasoning and Serve: Taste the honey butter and add more flaky sea salt if desired, up to an additional 1/4 teaspoon. Serve immediately drizzled with honey or sprinkled with extra sea salt if you like. Store any leftovers tightly covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for 2–3 months.

Notes

  • Softened butter is key for easy whipping and a smooth texture.
  • Adjust the amount of flaky sea salt to your taste preference.
  • Honey butter can be stored at room temperature for a couple of days but refrigerate for longer storage.
  • Use a paddle attachment or handheld mixer for best whipping results.
  • Drizzling additional honey on top when serving enhances sweetness and presentation.
