Description

A quick and flavorful Honey Garlic Chicken recipe featuring tender chicken thighs or breasts cooked to golden perfection in a savory honey garlic sauce, enhanced with soy sauce and a touch of ginger. Perfect for a delicious weeknight dinner, garnished with fresh green onions for added brightness.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 chicken thighs or breasts
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Pat the chicken thighs or breasts dry and season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. Cook the chicken: Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 6-8 minutes on each side until both sides are golden brown and the chicken is cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger if using. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with a tablespoon of water to create a slurry and add to this mixture.
  4. Simmer the sauce: Pour the honey garlic mixture into the same pan over medium heat. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and becomes glossy.
  5. Coat the chicken: Return the cooked chicken to the pan with the sauce, turning to coat each piece thoroughly in the sticky glaze.
  6. Garnish and serve: Remove the pan from heat. Garnish the chicken with sliced green onions if desired. Serve warm with your preferred side dishes.

Notes

  • Chicken thighs are juicier and more forgiving if overcooked, but breasts work well too.
  • Adjust soy sauce quantity to manage saltiness.
  • Add cornstarch slurry gradually to avoid over-thickening.
  • Serve with steamed rice, noodles, or vegetables for a complete meal.
  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
