Description

This Hot Fudge recipe is a rich, velvety chocolate sauce that’s perfect for drizzling over ice cream, brownies, or any dessert. Made with cocoa powder, chocolate, and cream, it’s quick to prepare and far better than store-bought versions, offering deep, indulgent chocolate flavor in every spoonful.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together cocoa powder and sugar.
  2. Stir in heavy cream and butter.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth and melted.
  4. Once bubbling gently, reduce heat and simmer for 4–5 minutes, stirring often, until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate, vanilla, and salt until glossy and fully combined.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving—it will thicken more as it cools.

Notes

  • Add 1 tbsp espresso powder to enhance chocolate depth.
  • For a twist, stir in cinnamon or cayenne for a spiced version.
  • Swap some chocolate for milk chocolate for a sweeter, creamier fudge.
  • Add a splash of bourbon or Irish cream for an adult-friendly variation.
  • Reheat gently and add cream if needed to thin the sauce.
