Description

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes combine the rich, cheesy goodness of a Philly cheesesteak with the saucy comfort of a sloppy joe in one skillet meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, chopped (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 46 sandwich rolls or hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onions, green bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and cornstarch. Pour into skillet and stir.
  5. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  6. Reduce heat, lay provolone slices over the mixture, and let them melt. Stir gently to combine.
  7. Spoon the mixture onto warm sandwich rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Use pepper jack or American cheese for a flavor variation.
  • Toast buns to avoid sogginess.
  • Store leftovers separately from buns for best results.
  • Filling can be frozen for up to 2 months.
