Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough or 1 pie crust
- Optional toppings: pepperoni slices, sliced olives, mushrooms, bell peppers
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 3–5 minutes.
- Press biscuit dough or pie crust into the pie dish, covering the bottom and sides.
- Pour meat mixture into the crust and spread evenly.
- Top with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Add desired toppings such as pepperoni, olives, or vegetables.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter or vegetarian version.
- Crescent roll dough works well as a softer crust alternative.
- Mix in pickles or jalapeños for a cheeseburger-style or spicy twist.
- Let the meat filling cool slightly before adding to the crust to avoid sogginess.
