Description

This pizza burger pie is the ultimate comfort food mash-up—featuring a savory crust filled with seasoned beef, melty cheese, and zesty pizza sauce. Easy to make and endlessly customizable, it’s a family-friendly dinner that’s perfect for weeknights, potlucks, or game day spreads.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough or 1 pie crust
  • Optional toppings: pepperoni slices, sliced olives, mushrooms, bell peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 3–5 minutes.
  4. Press biscuit dough or pie crust into the pie dish, covering the bottom and sides.
  5. Pour meat mixture into the crust and spread evenly.
  6. Top with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  7. Add desired toppings such as pepperoni, olives, or vegetables.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter or vegetarian version.
  • Crescent roll dough works well as a softer crust alternative.
  • Mix in pickles or jalapeños for a cheeseburger-style or spicy twist.
  • Let the meat filling cool slightly before adding to the crust to avoid sogginess.
