Description

This Savory Turkey and Cranberry Crescent Ring is a delightful and festive meal perfect for holidays or a quick weeknight dinner. Using flaky crescent rolls filled with a creamy chive and onion cheese mixture, shredded Gruyere, tender turkey slices, and tangy whole berry cranberry sauce, this ring offers a perfect balance of savory and sweet flavors. Topped with butter, poppy seeds, and aromatic herbs, it bakes to a golden, flaky finish sure to impress any crowd.

Ingredients

Crescent Ring

  • 1 tube crescent rolls
  • 4 oz chive and onion cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 3 tsp finely chopped fresh rosemary or thyme, divided
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese, divided
  • 1 lb thinly sliced turkey (leftover or deli turkey)
  • 1 (14 oz) can whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1/2 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1/4 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Prepare Crescent Rolls: Separate the crescent rolls and arrange them in a circle on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure the widest portions face inward and edges overlap slightly to form a ring.
  3. Prepare Filling: In a small bowl, whisk together the softened chive and onion cream cheese, Dijon mustard, and 1 teaspoon of the chopped rosemary or thyme. Spread this creamy mixture evenly over the widest part of the crescent rolls. Then, sprinkle 1 cup of shredded Gruyere cheese over the cream cheese layer.
  4. Add Turkey and Cranberry: Layer the thinly sliced turkey on top of the cheese, slightly overlapping. Spread half of the cranberry sauce over the turkey, then sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded Gruyere cheese on top.
  5. Form the Ring: Fold the narrow ends of each crescent dough piece over the filling and tuck them underneath the ring to secure all the layers and to create a closed crescent ring.
  6. Add Toppings and Bake: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, poppy seeds, granulated garlic, and salt. Brush this mixture generously over the top and sides of the crescent dough to enhance flavor and create a golden crust. Bake in the preheated oven for 22 to 24 minutes until the dough is golden brown. Let the ring rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes after baking.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the baked ring with the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons of rosemary or thyme to add a fresh herb aroma. Slice the ring and serve it warm with the remaining cranberry sauce on the side for dipping or spreading.
