These Slow Cooker Hot Honey Chicken Sandwiches are an easy, spicy-sweet crowd-pleaser. Juicy shredded chicken simmers in a bold hot honey sauce, served on soft buns with crunchy pickles.
Ingredients
- 2.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic salt (3:1 mix of salt and garlic powder)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tbsp vinegar (white or apple cider)
- 4 tbsp butter
- 8 sandwich buns (brioche, pretzel, slider, or Hawaiian rolls)
- Dill pickle chips (for topping)
Instructions
- Spray the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker with non-stick spray and place trimmed chicken breasts inside.
- In a small bowl, mix cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic salt. Sprinkle evenly over chicken.
- Add brown sugar, drizzle honey, pour in vinegar, and place pats of butter on top.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours.
- Shred the chicken using forks or meat claws directly in the slow cooker.
- Serve hot on buns topped with dill pickle chips. Optional toppings: ranch, coleslaw, or cheese.
Notes
- Use less cayenne for milder heat, more for spicier flavor.
- Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts.
- Serve over rice or in baked potatoes for a twist.
- Freezes well – prepare in advance for busy days.
