Description

These Slow Cooker Hot Honey Chicken Sandwiches are an easy, spicy-sweet crowd-pleaser. Juicy shredded chicken simmers in a bold hot honey sauce, served on soft buns with crunchy pickles.


Ingredients

  • 2.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic salt (3:1 mix of salt and garlic powder)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp vinegar (white or apple cider)
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 8 sandwich buns (brioche, pretzel, slider, or Hawaiian rolls)
  • Dill pickle chips (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Spray the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker with non-stick spray and place trimmed chicken breasts inside.
  2. In a small bowl, mix cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic salt. Sprinkle evenly over chicken.
  3. Add brown sugar, drizzle honey, pour in vinegar, and place pats of butter on top.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours.
  5. Shred the chicken using forks or meat claws directly in the slow cooker.
  6. Serve hot on buns topped with dill pickle chips. Optional toppings: ranch, coleslaw, or cheese.

Notes

  • Use less cayenne for milder heat, more for spicier flavor.
  • Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts.
