Description

This Spicy Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage and Shrimp Ramen is a bold and creamy twist on traditional ramen, combining spicy jalapeño, smoky sausage, succulent shrimp, and sharp cheddar cheese in a rich broth. Ready in just 30 minutes, this easy-to-make dish is perfect for those craving a flavorful, comforting bowl of noodles with a spicy kick.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Butter or oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Spicy sausage, sliced – 100 grams (about 3.5 oz)
  • Shrimp, peeled and deveined – 150 grams (about 5 oz)
  • Salt – to taste
  • Black pepper – to taste
  • Garlic powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion, finely chopped – 1/2 medium (about 75 grams)
  • Bell pepper, chopped – 1/2 medium (about 75 grams)
  • Garlic, minced – 2 cloves
  • Jalapeño, minced – 1 small
  • Smoked paprika – 1 teaspoon
  • Cayenne pepper – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cajun seasoning – 1 teaspoon
  • Chicken broth – 3 cups (720 ml)
  • Soy sauce – 1 tablespoon
  • Milk – 1 cup (240 ml)
  • Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded – 1 cup (about 110 grams)
  • Chili garlic paste or Sriracha – 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Ramen noodles – 2 servings (about 180 grams)
  • Green onions, chopped – 2 tablespoons
  • Jalapeño slices – for garnish
  • Soft-boiled eggs – 2 (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sear the sausage: Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and sear until browned and slightly crispy, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Cook the shrimp: Season shrimp with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. In the same skillet, sear the shrimp for about 2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  3. Sauté aromatics: In a pot, melt butter with olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and bell pepper and sauté for 3 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and jalapeño, cooking for an additional 1 minute to release their flavors.
  4. Add spices and liquids: Stir in smoked paprika, cayenne, and Cajun seasoning. Pour in chicken broth and soy sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Let it simmer gently for 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
  5. Create the creamy broth: Lower the heat and stir in milk and shredded cheddar cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese has fully melted and formed a creamy broth. Add chili garlic paste or Sriracha according to your spice preference and mix well.
  6. Cook the noodles: Add ramen noodles directly to the simmering broth. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender and have absorbed some of the broth's flavor.
  7. Assemble and serve: Divide the noodles and broth into serving bowls. Top each bowl with the seared sausage, cooked shrimp, chopped green onions, and jalapeño slices for extra heat. Optionally, add soft-boiled eggs for a rich, creamy addition. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra richness, use whole milk or a combination of milk and cream.
  • Adjust the amount of chili garlic paste or Sriracha depending on your preferred spice level.
  • Soft-boiled eggs add protein and creaminess but can be omitted for a quicker meal.
  • Substitute the sausage and shrimp with other proteins like chicken or tofu for variation.
  • Leftover broth can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
