Description

Strawberry Heaven Dessert is a light and refreshing layered treat that combines fluffy angel food cake, creamy vanilla pudding, sweet strawberry pie filling, and whipped topping. Perfect for warm weather or gatherings, this no-bake dessert is simple to assemble and chilled for a few hours to meld all the delicious flavors together.

Ingredients

Angel Food Cake Layer

  • 1 whole (10 ounces) angel food cake

Vanilla Pudding Mixture

  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 ½ cups (367.5 g) whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Fruit and Topping

  • 1 can (21 ounces) strawberry pie filling
  • 1 container (8 ounces) whipped topping, thawed
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut Angel Food Cake: Using a good serrated knife, cut the angel food cake into cubes. Set aside for layering.
  2. Prepare Vanilla Pudding Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the instant vanilla pudding mix, whole milk, and heavy whipping cream.
  3. Whip Pudding Mixture: Using a hand-held mixer, beat the pudding mixture starting on low speed, gradually increasing speed. Continue mixing for about 2 minutes or until the mixture thickens.
  4. Layer Base Cake Cubes: In the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish, arrange half of the angel food cake cubes in a single, even layer.
  5. Add Strawberry Pie Filling Layer: Dollop about two-thirds of the strawberry pie filling evenly over the cake cubes, using a spoon to spread gently if needed.
  6. Spread Vanilla Pudding: Carefully spoon and spread the thickened vanilla pudding mixture over the strawberry pie filling, creating an even layer.
  7. Top with Remaining Cake Cubes: Place the remaining angel food cake cubes evenly over the pudding layer.
  8. Add Remaining Strawberry Pie Filling: Dollop the rest of the strawberry pie filling over the cake cubes, spreading lightly if desired.
  9. Apply Whipped Topping: Spread the thawed whipped topping in an even layer over the top of the dessert.
  10. Chill Dessert: Place the assembled dish in the refrigerator and chill for 3 to 4 hours to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  11. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, optionally garnish with fresh sliced strawberries to add a bright, fresh touch.

Notes

  • Use a serrated knife for easier cutting of the angel food cake to avoid crushing the delicate texture.
  • Do not overmix the pudding mixture; stop once it has thickened to maintain a smooth consistency.
  • Chilling the dessert for at least 3 hours is essential for proper setting and flavor development.
  • Optional fresh strawberry garnish adds color and a fresh flavor contrast.
  • This dessert is best served within 24 hours for freshness.
