Description

A creamy, tangy, and slightly spicy Blooming Onion Sauce inspired by Outback Steakhouse's famous dipping sauce. This easy-to-make sauce combines mayonnaise, sour cream, horseradish, and a blend of spices, perfect for dipping onion petals or other appetizers.

Ingredients

Blooming Onion Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, add mayonnaise, sour cream, ketchup, prepared horseradish, paprika, kosher salt, granulated garlic, dried oregano, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Mix Thoroughly: Stir all the ingredients together vigorously until the mixture is smooth and well blended, ensuring the spices are evenly distributed.
  3. Chill the Sauce: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and intensify.
  4. Final Stir and Serve: Before serving, give the sauce one last stir to smooth out any separation. Enjoy it as a delicious dip with blooming onion petals or your favorite appetizers.

Notes

  • For best flavor, refrigerate the sauce overnight.
  • The horseradish provides a spicy kick; adjust quantity to taste.
  • Use fresh spices for a more vibrant flavor.
  • This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Great not only for blooming onions but also as a dip for fries, chicken tenders, or veggies.
