Delicious Blueberry Brie Jalapeño Poppers combining sweet and savory flavors for a perfect vegetarian appetizer, featuring creamy melted brie topped with sweet blueberry preserves, honey, and a touch of spice from fresh jalapeños.
Ingredients
Jalapeños
- 10 to 12 jalapeños, halved lengthwise and seeded
Filling
- 6 to 8 ounces brie cheese, cut into small cubes
- 1/3 cup blueberry preserves or fresh blueberries
- 1 tablespoon honey
Optional Toppings
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- Pinch of sea salt
- Fresh thyme or parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the poppers.
- Prepare Jalapeños: Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds, optionally leaving a few seeds for extra heat as desired.
- Assemble Poppers: Arrange the jalapeño halves cut-side up on the baking sheet and place a cube of brie inside each jalapeño cavity.
- Add Blueberry Topping: Spoon a small amount of blueberry preserves or a few fresh blueberries over each brie-filled jalapeño, adding a sweet contrast to the spicy pepper.
- Drizzle and Season: Drizzle the poppers lightly with honey, then sprinkle with chopped nuts, lemon zest, and a pinch of sea salt if using, to enhance flavor complexity.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until the jalapeños soften slightly and the brie is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with chopped fresh thyme or parsley if desired and serve warm as a savory-sweet appetizer.
Notes
- Adjust heat by leaving some jalapeño seeds in the halves if you prefer spicier poppers.
- Use more brie cheese for a creamier texture and richer flavor.
