Description

This Buffalo Turkey Dip is a creamy, spicy, and cheesy appetizer perfect for parties or game day gatherings. Combining shredded cooked turkey with tangy cream cheese, sour cream, and Frank's RedHot sauce, this dip is baked until hot and bubbly, then broiled to golden perfection. Topped with fresh scallions and served with crostini or tortilla chips, it delivers a delicious twist on classic buffalo flavors.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked turkey, shredded
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup Frank’s RedHot sauce
  • 8 scallions, trimmed and minced (reserve a pinch for garnish)
  • 2 teaspoons dry chives
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dry dill
  • 4 ounces pepper jack cheese, grated
  • 4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Butter or oil, for greasing
  • Crostini or tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking dish: Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish thoroughly with butter or oil to prevent sticking. Then preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) so it’s ready for baking the dip later.
  2. Make the buffalo dip sauce: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, and Frank’s RedHot sauce. Use a whisk or an electric hand mixer to blend these ingredients until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
  3. Add seasonings and turkey: Stir in all but a pinch of the minced scallions along with the dry chives, garlic powder, onion powder, and dry dill into the buffalo sauce. Then fold in the shredded cooked turkey, half of the grated pepper jack cheese, and half of the grated sharp cheddar cheese. Mix everything together gently with a rubber spatula until thoroughly combined. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  4. Assemble the dip: Pour the combined mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly to create a smooth layer. Sprinkle the remaining pepper jack and sharp cheddar cheeses evenly on top.
  5. Bake the dip: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, allowing the dip to heat through and the flavors to meld.
  6. Broil for finishing touch: After baking, switch the oven to the broiler setting. Broil the dip for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese topping is bubbly and browned to your liking. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  7. Rest and garnish: Remove the dip from the oven and let it stand for 5 minutes so it sets slightly. Then sprinkle the reserved minced scallions on top for a fresh, colorful garnish.
  8. Serve: Serve the Buffalo Turkey Dip warm with crostini or tortilla chips for dipping. Enjoy the spicy, cheesy, hearty flavors with your favorite crunchy accompaniments!

Notes

  • For extra heat, add more Frank’s RedHot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Use fresh cooked turkey or leftover turkey for convenience.
  • Cream cheese should be softened at room temperature to blend smoothly.
  • Leftover dip can be refrigerated and reheated gently in the oven.
  • This dip is great for parties, potlucks, or game day snacking.
