Description

These Chicken Parmesan Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or meal featuring crispy chicken nuggets, melted cheeses, and savory marinara sauce all layered inside soft Hawaiian rolls. Perfect for parties or family dinners, these sliders combine convenience and classic Italian-American flavors in a crowd-pleasing sandwich.

Ingredients

Chicken and Cheese

  • 16 ounces frozen chicken nuggets
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Bread

  • 12 ounces Hawaiian rolls (1 pack of 12 rolls)

Sauces and Seasoning

  • 1 ½ cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic salt

Butter Topping

  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese (like Kraft)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a sheet pan with aluminum foil and lightly spray it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook Chicken Nuggets: Bake the frozen chicken nuggets according to the package instructions, either in the oven or air fryer, flipping halfway through. Add 2-3 extra minutes to the cook time to ensure they are extra crispy for the sliders.
  3. Prepare the Rolls: Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally into two large sections (top and bottom). Set the top halves aside and place the bottom halves on the prepared sheet pan. Spread the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the bottom halves to create a moisture barrier and keep the rolls from getting soggy.
  4. Assemble Sliders: Place two cooked chicken nuggets on each roll bottom. Stir the Italian seasoning into the marinara sauce, then spoon the sauce evenly over the chicken. Layer a slice of provolone cheese on top of each slider for extra cheesy goodness.
  5. Add Tops and Butter: Replace the tops of the Hawaiian rolls over the assembled sliders. Combine the garlic salt with the melted butter and generously brush the mixture over the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle parmesan cheese generously over the buttered tops.
  6. Bake to Finish: Cover the sliders loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 15-20 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and warmed through. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes until the tops begin to brown and the cheese has fully melted. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use frozen chicken nuggets for convenience and crispy texture, but feel free to substitute with homemade breaded chicken if preferred.
  • Adding mozzarella cheese to the bottom layer of the rolls helps keep the buns from getting soggy from the marinara sauce.
  • Adjust baking times as needed depending on your oven and the size of your chicken nuggets.
  • These sliders can be made ahead and reheated covered with foil to maintain moisture.
