Description

This Easy Holiday Gumdrop Nougat Candy is a festive and delightful treat that combines the smooth richness of white chocolate and marshmallows with colorful, chewy gumdrops. Perfect for holiday gatherings, this no-bake candy is simple to make using a double boiler method, and yields 60 bite-sized pieces that are chewy, sweet, and bursting with vibrant flavors.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 bags (225 grams each) white chocolate chips (DO NOT USE Chipits)
  • 2 bags (250 grams each) mini marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped red and green gumdrops

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Line an 8x8 inch square baking dish with parchment paper to ensure easy removal of the nougat once set.
  2. Prepare gumdrops: Cut the red and green gumdrops in half and set them aside for later mixing.
  3. Melt butter, chocolate, and marshmallows: Using a double boiler setup—place a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of gently simmering water—melt the butter, white chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows together over indirect medium heat. Stir continuously to achieve a smooth, melted mixture without cooking or boiling it.
  4. Cool mixture: Remove the melted mixture from heat and allow it to cool for about 2 minutes to prevent gumdrops from melting when added.
  5. Add gumdrops: Stir the chopped gumdrops into the cooled mixture thoroughly to evenly distribute the colorful candies.
  6. Transfer to pan: Pour the sticky nougat mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a lightly greased piece of parchment or wax paper to spread and pat down the mixture evenly, as it is very sticky to handle.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, although overnight chilling is best for firm setting.
  8. Slice candies: Once fully set, slice the nougat into approximately 60 bite-sized pieces for easy serving.
  9. Store properly: To store, place parchment paper between layers of nougat pieces to prevent sticking. Keep refrigerated to maintain freshness.
  10. Enjoy: Serve and enjoy this festive and chewy holiday nougat candy!

Notes

  • Do not use Chipits for the white chocolate chips, as they do not melt properly in this recipe.
  • You can find red and green gumdrops at specialty baking stores, online candy suppliers, or the candy aisle of large supermarkets during the holiday season.
  • The double boiler method ensures a gentle heat to prevent burning or cooking the mixture.
  • Using parchment or wax paper to press the nougat helps manage stickiness and makes spreading easier.
