Ingredients
Dough and Cheese
- 1 (8-oz.) can Crescent dough
- 3 slices American cheese
Other
- 12 hot dogs
- 2 tbsp. melted butter
- Dijon mustard, for decorating
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Separate the crescent dough into 4 rectangles and pinch seams to form solid rectangles. Then, cut each rectangle lengthwise into thin strips for wrapping.
- Cut Cheese Strips: Slice each piece of American cheese into 4 thin strips to match the size of the dough strips.
- Assemble Mummies: Place one hot dog on top of a cheese strip, then wrap it with about 4 strips of crescent dough to resemble mummy bandages. Repeat this assembly for all 12 hot dogs.
- Prepare for Baking: Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each one generously with melted butter to help them brown evenly.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the crescent dough is golden brown and fully cooked through.
- Add Eyes: After baking, use a toothpick to dot Dijon mustard onto each mummy hot dog to create spooky eyes.
Notes
- For a spicier twist, use spicy mustard instead of Dijon mustard.
- You can substitute hot dogs with vegetarian or vegan alternatives to suit dietary needs.
- Brush dough with egg wash instead of butter for a shinier finish.
- Serve with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce for extra flavor.
- Ensure not to wrap the dough too thickly so it cooks evenly and crisply.
