Ingredients
Garlic Butter
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic (or 1 tablespoon minced garlic)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Steak & Shrimp
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 New York strip steaks (Porterhouse steaks)
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- 8 ounces shrimp, deveined, tails on or off
Instructions
- Prepare Garlic Butter: Mix together 4 tablespoons of the unsalted butter with garlic and fresh chopped parsley in a bowl. Refrigerate the mixture until ready to use to enhance the flavors.
- Preheat Grill and Season Steaks: Heat a large grill over high heat. Lightly grease the grill plates with olive oil. Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel, brush both sides with olive oil, then generously season with salt and pepper.
- Grill Steaks: Place steaks on the hot grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Spread half of the garlic butter evenly over the steaks while still hot. Transfer the steaks to a warm plate and let them rest for 5 minutes to retain juices.
- Prepare Shrimp: While steaks rest, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper evenly.
- Grill Shrimp: Reduce grill heat to medium. Place the shrimp on the grill, cooking for 5-6 minutes depending on shrimp size and thickness. Flip the shrimp halfway through cooking time. Cook until shrimp turn bright pink on the outside and are white and opaque inside.
- Toss Shrimp with Butter and Serve: Toss the grilled shrimp with the melted garlic butter to coat fully. Serve shrimp alongside the rested steaks, spooning any remaining garlic butter over both for extra flavor.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh garlic and parsley in the butter mixture.
- Ensure steaks are patted dry before grilling for a better sear.
- Letting the steaks rest after grilling allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the meat tender.
- Adjust cooking times according to steak thickness and shrimp size.
- You can keep the garlic butter warm by placing the bowl over a pan of hot water during grilling.
- If a grill is not available, this recipe can also be prepared using a grill pan on the stovetop.
