Description
This Garlic Butter Grilled Steak & Shrimp recipe combines tender, flavorful New York strip steaks with juicy shrimp, both cooked on the grill and topped with a rich garlic butter and parsley sauce. Perfect for a quick yet impressive 25-minute meal serving four.
Ingredients
Garlic Butter
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
- 4 cloves garlic (or 1 tablespoon minced garlic)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
Protein
- 4 New York Steak strip steaks (Porterhouse steaks)
- 8 ounces shrimp (deveined, tails on or off)
Seasoning and Oil
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
Instructions
- Prepare Garlic Butter: Mix together the unsalted butter, garlic, and freshly chopped parsley in a bowl. Place it in the refrigerator to chill until you're ready to use it.
- Preheat and Prepare Grill: Heat a large grill over high heat. Lightly grease the grill plates with olive oil to prevent sticking. Pat the steaks dry using paper towels, then brush lightly with olive oil and generously season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Grill Steaks: Place the steaks on the hot grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your preferred level of doneness. As soon as they come off the grill, spread half of the prepared garlic butter over the steaks. Transfer the steaks to a warm plate and allow them to rest for 5 minutes to retain juices.
- Prepare Shrimp: While the steaks are resting, melt the remaining garlic butter. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper.
- Grill Shrimp: Lower the grill heat to medium. Grill the shrimp for 5-6 minutes total, flipping halfway through. Cook until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, indicating they are fully cooked.
- Toss Shrimp in Butter and Serve: Toss the grilled shrimp with the melted garlic butter. Serve the shrimp alongside the rested steaks for a flavorful and balanced meal.
Notes
- Patting the steaks dry before grilling helps achieve a better sear.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure steaks are cooked to your desired doneness (e.g., 130°F for medium-rare).
- Adjust grilling time for shrimp based on their size to avoid overcooking.
- Resting the steak after grilling allows juices to redistribute for maximum tenderness.
- Keep the shrimp tails on for easier handling and a nicer presentation, but they can be removed if preferred.
