Description

Garlic Parmesan Wings are crispy, flavorful chicken wings coated in a savory blend of garlic, Parmesan cheese, and herbs. Perfectly cooked either in the oven or air fryer, these wings deliver a deliciously buttery and garlicky taste topped with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for an irresistible appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wings (cut into drumettes and wingettes)

Seasoning and Butter

  • 2 tablespoons salted butter (melted)
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon ground white pepper (or ground black pepper)

Garlic Parmesan Sauce

  • 6 tablespoons salted butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Rack: Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a large baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and place a rack on top. Spray the rack with non-stick spray and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel and place them in a large bowl. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of melted butter over the wings and toss to coat evenly.
  3. Mix Seasoning: In a small bowl, combine sea salt, dried parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, dried basil, and ground white or black pepper. Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the buttered wings and gently rub it on both sides of each wing.
  4. Bake the Wings: Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer on the prepared rack and baking sheet. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and wings are crisp.
  5. Make Garlic Butter Sauce: While the wings bake, mix 6 tablespoons of melted butter with 1 tablespoon minced garlic in a medium bowl.
  6. Toss Wings in Garlic Butter: Once wings are done baking, remove from oven and immediately toss them with the garlic butter mixture to coat evenly.
  7. Add Parmesan Cheese: Sprinkle ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese over the wings on the rack. Return the wings to the oven and bake until the Parmesan lightly browns, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  8. Serve: Remove the wings from the oven, garnish with freshly chopped parsley, and serve with ranch dressing if desired.
  9. Air Fryer Alternative Preparation: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Pat wings dry and coat with 2 tablespoons melted butter. Season with the same seasoning mix. Air fry wings in a single layer for 8 to 10 minutes on one side, flip, then cook another 7 to 9 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F, cooking in batches as needed.
  10. Garlic Butter Toss and Parmesan Finish in Air Fryer: Toss air fried wings in garlic butter mixture, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top, then return to the air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes until Parmesan is lightly browned. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure wings are fully thawed and patted dry to maximize crispiness.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 165°F for safe consumption.
  • Cooking times may vary depending on wing size and oven or air fryer model.
  • For extra heat, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the seasoning or garlic butter mixture.
  • Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing as a dip for enhanced flavor.
