Description

Garlic Parmesan Mushrooms are a creamy, savory side dish featuring tender sautéed mushrooms cooked with garlic, cream cheese, Parmesan, and fragrant Italian herbs. Ready in just 20 minutes, this recipe is perfect for adding a rich, flavorful touch to any meal.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp garlic (minced)
  • 1 ¾ cups whole white mushrooms (washed and dried)
  • ¼ cup cream cheese (cut into small cubes)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp dry ground oregano
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tbsp fresh chipped parsley

Instructions

  1. Sauté Mushrooms and Garlic: In a large 12-inch frying pan over medium-high heat, melt the butter and olive oil together. Add the minced garlic and whole white mushrooms. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms become tender and release their moisture, about five minutes.
  2. Melt Cream Cheese: Lower the heat to medium, then add the cream cheese cubes to the pan. Stir continuously until the cream cheese melts smoothly into the mushrooms, creating a creamy base.
  3. Add Cheese and Cream: Reduce the heat further to medium-low. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, heavy cream, Italian seasoning, dry oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to combine all flavors evenly.
  4. Simmer and Finish: Allow the mixture to simmer gently for five minutes, stirring often to prevent sticking and ensure a rich sauce forms. Remove the pan from heat and sprinkle the fresh chipped parsley on top before serving to add a burst of color and fresh herb flavor.

Notes

  • Be sure to wash and dry the mushrooms thoroughly to avoid excess water making the dish watery.
  • For a stronger garlic flavor, you can increase the garlic quantity to 3 teaspoons.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best taste and smooth melting.
  • This dish is best served immediately to enjoy the creamy texture at its peak.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
