Description

These Greek Beef Wraps with Creamy Feta Dill Sauce combine savory seasoned ground beef with fresh vegetables and a tangy, creamy sauce made from feta cheese and Greek yogurt. Wrapped in soft pita bread, this dish offers a delicious Mediterranean-inspired meal that's perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

For the Beef Filling

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 large pita breads or wraps
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion
  • 1/4 cup sliced cucumber

For the Creamy Feta Dill Sauce

  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon for even cooking.
  2. Season the Beef: Season the beef with paprika, garlic powder, dried oregano, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until the spices are fragrant and well incorporated.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine crumbled feta cheese, Greek yogurt, chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until smooth and creamy.
  4. Warm the Pita Breads: Warm the pita breads briefly in a pan or oven for about 1 minute to make them pliable and enhance their flavor.
  5. Assemble the Wraps: Lay the warmed pita breads flat and evenly distribute the cooked beef over each. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced red onion, and cucumber slices.
  6. Add the Sauce: Drizzle the creamy feta dill sauce generously over the fillings to add tangy creaminess.
  7. Fold and Serve: Fold the wraps tightly to enclose the fillings and serve immediately while warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use lean ground beef or substitute with ground turkey.
  • Fresh dill can be substituted with dried dill if fresh is unavailable, but use less to avoid overpowering the sauce.
  • To make this a gluten-free meal, substitute pita breads with gluten-free wraps.
  • For added crunch and flavor, consider adding sliced olives or pepperoncini.
  • These wraps are best served fresh to maintain the texture of the pita and the crispness of the vegetables.
