Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour melted butter into a 9x9-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and baking powder.
- Stir in milk, lemon juice, and lemon zest until batter is smooth.
- Pour batter over the melted butter in the baking dish—do not stir.
- Carefully pour hot water over the top—again, do not stir.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and set and the bottom is bubbling.
- Let cool slightly, then serve warm or chilled with your favorite toppings.
