Description

This Quick Cheesy Garlic Bread recipe is a simple and delicious side dish perfect for any meal. Combining a crispy, buttery garlic base with melted mozzarella cheese, it’s an irresistible treat to enjoy alongside soups, stews, or pasta dishes. Ready in just 30 minutes, this crowd-pleaser features easy steps to achieve a flavorful and cheesy bread that’s perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Bread and Butter Mixture

  • 1 bread loaf approx 30cm/12" long
  • 100 g / 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced (~3 tsp)

Toppings

  • 2 - 2.5 cups (200 - 250g) mozzarella cheese, grated
  • Parsley, for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 160C/320F to prepare for the initial baking stage of the bread.
  2. Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix the unsalted butter with minced garlic and salt until well combined, creating a flavorful garlic butter spread.
  3. Slice Bread: Cut the bread loaf in half horizontally to create two flat surfaces for spreading the garlic butter.
  4. Apply Garlic Butter: Generously drizzle and spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over both bread surfaces, ensuring no patches are left uncovered for maximum flavor.
  5. First Bake: Place the buttered bread halves in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, until the edges become crispy and the bread is warmed through.
  6. Add Cheese and Increase Heat: Raise the oven temperature to 200C/390F, sprinkle the grated mozzarella evenly over the bread halves, then return to the oven for 7 to 10 minutes until the cheese melts, bubbles, and turns slightly golden.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, sprinkle chopped parsley if desired, cut the cheesy garlic bread into pieces, and serve immediately as a delicious side or accompaniment to soups and stews.

Notes

  • Use fresh bread loaf approximately 12 inches long for best results.
  • Adjust garlic amount to taste for more or less intensity.
  • Mozzarella cheese can be substituted or combined with other cheeses like cheddar or parmesan for varied flavors.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy melted cheese texture and crispy bread.
