Description

A refreshing and colorful Red, White, and Blueberry Fruit Salad featuring fresh strawberries, blueberries, and bananas lightly sweetened with sugar and brightened with lemon juice. Perfect for summer parties or as a healthy everyday treat.

Ingredients

Fruit

  • 1 pint strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 1 pint blueberries
  • 4 bananas

Dressing

  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine Berries: In a large bowl, combine the strawberries and blueberries.
  2. Add Sweetener and Lemon Juice: Sprinkle the sugar and lemon juice over the berries, then toss lightly to coat all the fruit evenly.
  3. Chill Mixture: Refrigerate the berry mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and to chill the salad.
  4. Slice Bananas: Approximately 30 minutes before serving, cut the bananas into 3/4-inch thick slices.
  5. Mix Bananas With Berries: Add the banana slices to the chilled berry mixture and toss gently until the bananas are evenly distributed throughout the salad.
  6. Serve: Serve the fruit salad immediately after combining bananas to maintain freshness and vibrant color.

Notes

  • You can substitute raspberries for strawberries for a different flavor profile.
  • The lemon juice helps prevent the bananas from browning, keeping the salad visually appealing.
  • Chilling the berries before adding bananas helps maintain the texture and freshness of the fruit.
