Description

S'mores Popcorn is a delightful treat that combines classic campfire flavors with a crunchy popcorn base. This easy-to-make snack features freshly popped popcorn mixed with graham cracker crumbs, mini marshmallows, and drizzled with melted milk or semisweet chocolate, making it perfect for parties, movie nights, or a fun homemade dessert.

Ingredients

Popcorn

  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil (canola oil preferred)
  • 1/3 cup popcorn kernels

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs (from about 6 sheets, a mix of crumbs and small pieces)
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows

Chocolate Drizzle

  • 2/3 cup milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate (chips or roughly chopped bar)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil and pop kernels: Put oil and popcorn kernels in a large pot over medium-high heat. When the first kernel pops, cover the pot and remove it from the heat for about 30 seconds to allow kernels to heat evenly.
  2. Pop the popcorn: Place the pot back on the stove. Once the kernels start popping, hold the pot and vigorously shake it back and forth while keeping it on the heat. When popping slows significantly, remove the pot from heat and take off the cover.
  3. Combine with graham crackers and marshmallows: Transfer the popped popcorn to a large bowl. Add the graham cracker crumbs and mini marshmallows, tossing gently to mix them evenly.
  4. Melt the chocolate: Place the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate in a heat-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power for 30 seconds, then remove and stir gently. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  5. Drizzle chocolate over popcorn: Pour the melted chocolate over the popcorn mixture. Use a spatula or spoon to gently fold and coat the popcorn, crackers, and marshmallows with the chocolate.
  6. Set the chocolate: Spread the coated popcorn mixture onto a baking sheet in an even layer. Let it sit at room temperature until the chocolate hardens to set the treat for easy serving.

Notes

  • Use a large pot with a tight-fitting lid to ensure even popcorn popping.
  • Shake the pot gently but vigorously to prevent burning and ensure even popping.
  • Adjust chocolate melting time based on microwave wattage to avoid burning.
  • Allow the popcorn mix to cool completely for easier breaking into clusters.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
