Description
White Trash Recipe is a fun and colorful no-bake snack mix featuring a delightful combination of cereals, pretzels, peanuts, and M&M’s candies coated in creamy vanilla almond bark. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for parties, gifting, or just a sweet indulgence at home.
Ingredients
Mix Ingredients
- 2 cups Corn CHEX cereal
- 2 cups Cheerios cereal
- 2 cups mini pretzel twists
- 1 cup dry roasted salted peanuts
- 2 cups regular M&M’s candies (plus up to ½ cup for garnish)
Coating
- 24 ounces vanilla almond bark candy coating
Instructions
- Prepare baking sheet: Line a large half-sheet baking sheet (18x13 inches) with parchment paper and set aside for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
- Mix dry ingredients: In an extra-large (6-quart) mixing bowl, combine the Corn CHEX cereal, Cheerios cereal, mini pretzels, dry roasted salted peanuts, and 2 cups of M&M’s candies. Stir gently to mix evenly and set the bowl aside.
- Melt almond bark: Place the vanilla almond bark candy coating in a microwave-safe bowl and melt according to package instructions, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring between each until the coating is fully melted and smooth.
- Combine coating and mix: Pour the melted vanilla almond bark over the cereal mixture. Gently fold the mixture with a spatula or spoon to evenly coat all ingredients. Work quickly because the almond bark will start to firm up as it cools.
- Spread mixture: Transfer the coated mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it out in an even layer. If desired, sprinkle up to ½ cup additional M&M’s candies evenly over the top for extra color and decoration.
- Set mixture: Allow the mixture to set at room temperature for at least 1 hour or until the vanilla almond bark hardens completely, resulting in a crunchy texture.
- Break into clusters: Once fully hardened, break the mixture apart by hand into bite-sized clusters or chunks. Transfer the clusters to a serving bowl or package them in cellophane bags for gifting or storage.
Notes
- You can substitute the cereals with your favorite types if desired, but keep the cereal-to-coating ratio to maintain texture.
- Make sure to melt the almond bark completely and stir well to avoid lumps in the coating.
- Work quickly when mixing the coating with the dry ingredients to prevent the coating from setting prematurely.
- Store the finished clusters in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week to maintain freshness.
- For a colorful garnish, feel free to add other candies or sprinkles instead of just M&M’s.
