Description

These Yogurt Dog Treats are a refreshing and healthy snack made with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and creamy Greek yogurt. Perfect for keeping your furry friend cool and happy, these treats require minimal preparation and freeze solid for a cool, tasty treat any time.

Ingredients

Fruit Ingredients

  • 8 medium size fresh strawberries (washed and dried)
  • ¾ cup small fresh blueberries (washed and dried)

Other Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • Bone or paw shaped silicone freezer proof molds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: Remove the tops of the strawberries and carefully cut out the white center. Then dice the strawberries into about ¼ inch wide pieces.
  2. Fill the Molds with Fruit: Depending on the size of your molds, add 3 to 5 pieces of diced strawberries and 3 to 4 small blueberries into the bottom of each silicone mold.
  3. Add the Yogurt: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of plain Greek yogurt on top of the berries in each mold, adjusting the amount as needed to fill the molds completely.
  4. Remove Air Bubbles: Gently jiggle or tap the molds to release any trapped air bubbles. Add more yogurt if necessary to fill the molds.
  5. Clean the Mold Tops: Scrape off any excess yogurt from the tops of the molds using an offset spatula or a spoon. Wipe away any leftover yogurt with a damp paper towel for a clean finish.
  6. Freeze the Treats: Place the molds in the freezer and freeze for 4 hours or until the treats are frozen solid.
  7. Remove the Treats and Store: To remove the treats, briefly run the bottom of the mold under warm water and dry it. Gently stretch the sides of the silicone mold to release the treats. Store them in a freezer-safe container or a gallon-size freezer bag until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe berries for the best flavor and sweetness.
  • Ensure the yogurt is plain and unsweetened to avoid adding sugars harmful to dogs.
  • Always supervise your dog while eating treats to prevent choking hazards.
  • These treats are meant as a snack and should not replace a balanced diet.
  • Frozen treats are a great way to help your dog cool down in warm weather.
