Description

A classic and comforting Peach Cobbler recipe with a buttery biscuit-like crust and sweet, juicy peach filling, perfect for a cozy dessert any time of year.

Ingredients

Peach Filling

  • 5 peaches, sliced
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150 g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Cobbler Batter

    • 6 tablespoons butter (85 g)
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
    • 1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 3/4 cup milk (180 ml)
    • Ground cinnamon, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peach Filling: Add the sliced peaches, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt to a saucepan and stir to combine. Cook on medium heat for a few minutes until the sugar dissolves and the peaches release their juices. Remove from heat and set aside. (If using canned peaches, skip this step.)
  2. Preheat and Prepare Butter: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the butter into pieces and place them in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Put the dish in the oven while it preheats to melt the butter. Once melted, carefully remove the pan from the oven.
  3. Make the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir in the milk just until the mixture is combined; do not overmix.
  4. Assemble the Cobbler: Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish, smoothing the top gently. Spoon the peach mixture (including juices) evenly over the batter. Generously sprinkle ground cinnamon over the peaches.
  5. Bake: Bake the cobbler at 350°F (175°C) for about 38-40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
  6. Serve: Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful treat.

Notes

  • For a shortcut, use canned peaches and skip the step of cooking fresh peaches.
  • Make sure the butter is fully melted before pouring batter over it to ensure a crispy crust.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the cobbler light and fluffy.
  • Adjust sugar quantities depending on the sweetness of your peaches.
  • Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
